Eating Brain to Improve Your Mood?

Did you know that Robert Burton (8 February 1577 – 25 January 1640) in his book The Anatomy of Melancholy (1621) prescribed brains for depressed patients? Nowadays they found that the brain is high on omega 3 (and rich on phosphatidylserine) which regulates neurotransmitters involved in mood and behavior.....No wonder ancient civilizations ate organs such as liver, kidneys, heart, brains, intestines, stomach and many more...nowadays it has been proven that each organ is reach in minerals, fats, etc that help that particular organ i.e eating brains for a healthy brain...interesting enough they were right in their way of thinking this paradigm is called by Unschuld homeopathic magic where ancient civilizations saw that similar treated similar.
One thing is for sure...you will not see me eating brains, eyes...I guess that I will stick with the encapsulated supplements at my health food store

Testosterone, Luteinizing hormone and cortisol

Studies have shown a close relationship between Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) and Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG); simply put: higher levels of cortisol and lower levels of testosterone go hand to hand...Luteinizing hormone frequency is reduced as well...Men and Ladies control your stress and if you suffer from major depression I highly recommend acupuncture, herbal treatment and aromatherapy ... I have to admit that aromatherapy its great for stress relief, especially if you don't like needles.

Soon I will be posting information of some essential oils that are good for stress, depression, anger, fear, low self esteem and lack of courage and where you could find good quality essential oils.

Dropletss of Knowledge

I have to apologize for taking me so long to post something but have been busy doing some research therefore I decided that i will post tid-bits of interesting information that I'm learning during the process:

  1. In Chinese medicine we say that Common cold or any upper respiratory infection (wind-cold) enter through the nape of the neck, why? because a few days prior to an acute respiratory infection or attack the levator scapulae's trigger points activate eliciting stiff neck or pain in the neck....

  2. Did you know that people taking some anti-depressants gain wait due to an activation of alpha-noradrenergic receptors or deactivation of beta-noradrenergic receptors? Beta receptors stops feeding while alpha stimulates feeding.

  3. Did you know that an increase on melatonin inhibits or reduces sexual activity? That is why warmer seasons and longer days are associated with fertility (ie, the Spring season). Melatonin is synthesized from serotonin by taking from it a methyl group from SAMe and an acetyl group from Acetyl-CoA.

  4. Did you know that CKK (Cholecystokinin) modulates the release of dopamine while somatostatin and Substance P does the same with GABA and Serotonin respectively?
